                                    Headstrong Learning Network

Inspiring people to mobilise their communities to better support the mental health and well-benig of their young people

The Headstrong Learning Network (HLN) was conceived to offer a source of support and community mobilisation for youth mental health. It aims to bring together the expertise of Headstrong in sharing the learning around youth mental health, facilitating discussion around several key issues, and finally to give guidance in the development of a community plan to better support young people’s mental health.

The emphasis of the network is on bringing key community leaders together in collaboration with Headstrong to work through various modules which aim to evolve their thinking about what is required to better support young people’s mental health and well-being in their local community.

By the end, participants will come away with an understanding of the following:

  • Youth mental health and the challenges young people face;
  • Adolescent development;
  • Youth Participation and methods of engaging with young people, in a meaningful way, in relation to youth mental health;
  • Strategies and experiences around community mobilisation;
  • Practical steps for programme planning and development in the community;
  • How to develop a plan to mobilise community involvement to enhance youth mental health

The Headstrong Learning Network will be delivered from end of February 2012 to the end of November 2012 over 5 modules*. Each module will run for one day and will take place at the end of every second month.
